Pause, resume, or close a job

4 min read · Jan 22, 2026
Quick Answer

Pause a job to temporarily stop matching (resume anytime). Close a job to end it permanently. Both options preserve your candidate history.

Pause a job

Pausing temporarily stops a job without losing anything.

When to pause

  • You have enough candidates to process
  • Budget or headcount changed temporarily
  • Hiring manager is unavailable
  • Need to make significant changes

How to pause

  1. Go to your Dashboard
  2. Click the active job in the sidebar
  3. Click the Pause button (or find in job menu)
  4. Confirm you want to pause

What happens when paused

  • Matching stops: No new developers see your job
  • Candidates preserved: Existing briefs remain for review
  • Intros continue: Already-made introductions still work
  • No charges: You do not pay for paused jobs

How long can jobs be paused?

Indefinitely. There is no limit on pause duration.

Resume a paused job

Resuming makes a paused job active again.

How to resume

  1. Find the paused job in your sidebar (under "Paused")
  2. Click to open it
  3. Click Resume
  4. Job becomes active immediately

What happens when resumed

  • Matching restarts: Developers can see your job again
  • Same listing: Your job appears exactly as before
  • Billing resumes: You pay for active jobs

Do I need to re-submit for review?

Usually not. If your job was previously approved and you made no major changes, it resumes without review.

If you made significant edits while paused, it may go through review again.

Close a job

Closing permanently ends a job.

When to close

  • Position has been filled
  • Role is no longer needed
  • Job was created by mistake
  • Organization changed direction

How to close

  1. Go to the job in your dashboard
  2. Access job settings or menu
  3. Select Close Job
  4. Confirm the closure

What happens when closed

  • Permanent: Cannot be easily reopened
  • History preserved: Candidate history remains viewable
  • No new activity: No matching, no new candidates
  • No charges: Closed jobs are not billed

Can I reopen a closed job?

Not directly. If you need to hire for the same role again:

  • Create a new job
  • Import from the same URL
  • Or contact support for special cases

Choosing: pause vs. close
