Possible causes
Organization settings
- Slack Connect disabled: Your workspace does not allow external channels
- Admin approval required: IT must approve external connections
- Slack not installed: Your company does not use Slack
Invitation issues
- Wrong email: Invitation sent to different email
- Spam filter: Invitation caught by email filter
- Invitation expired: Took too long to accept
- Not in Slack: Email not associated with Slack account
Technical issues
- Slack service issue: Temporary Slack problem
- Browser blocking: Pop-ups or cookies blocked
- Account mismatch: Wrong Slack workspace selected
Resolution steps
Step 1: Check Slack Connect status
Your Slack admin controls Slack Connect:
- Ask your IT/admin if Slack Connect is enabled
- If disabled, request it be enabled for this connection
- If approval required, ask admin to approve
Step 2: Verify your email
- Check which email is on your daily.dev Recruiter account
- Ensure it matches your Slack workspace email
- Update your email in settings if different
Step 3: Check for invitation
- Look in your email (including spam/junk)
- Search for "Slack" or "daily.dev"
- Also check Slack directly for pending invites
- In Slack: check notifications for channel invites
Step 4: Check Slack directly
In your Slack app:
- Click on your workspace name
- Go to "Slack Connect" section
- Look for pending invitations
- Accept any from daily.dev
Step 5: Request new invitation
If invitation expired or missing:
- Go to organization settings
- Find Slack integration
- Click "Resend Invitation" or reconnect
- Check email/Slack again
Step 6: Try different browser
If web-based connection fails:
- Try Chrome, Firefox, or Safari
- Disable ad blockers temporarily
- Allow pop-ups for the site
- Clear cookies and try again
For Slack admins
If you are the admin and need to enable:
Enable Slack Connect
- Go to Slack admin console
- Find Slack Connect settings
- Enable "Allow users to connect with external organizations"
- Approve daily.dev connection request
Approve pending requests
- Go to Slack admin console
- Check Slack Connect requests
- Approve request from daily.dev
- User can then join the channel
Alternatives if Slack does not work
If you cannot use Slack:
- Email support: Always available
- In-app chat: For urgent issues
- Super Agent still works: Slack is optional
You do not lose features if Slack does not connect.
